Itinerary
We have prepared a programme for you in which you do not have to think about packing tents or stuffing luggage into the kayak. In this comfortable version, we offer accommodation in a guesthouse, tasty home-made meals, active recreation and a daily transfer from/to the place of accommodation.
Day 1
Welcome to the Land of Blue Lakes!
After checking into the guesthouse, we invite you to visit Augustów, the most famous monument of which is the Augustów Canal – a water miracle of nature and human hands, on which there are several dozen of manually operated sluice gates, just like in the old days.
After a walk, we will acquaint you with safety rules that apply during canoeing trips. Your guide will answer all questions related to the stay!
Day 2
Czarna Hańcza: Wigry – Wysoki Most
Your canoeing adventure will start on Lake Wigry, in the Wigry National Park, from where you will flow to meet the queen of rivers in the Augustów Lakeland – Czarna Hańcza. It is one of the most popular kayaking routes in Poland. The weak current, gentle bends as well as the width of the river allow even rookie kayakers to enjoy the trip. There are numerous campsites and beaches on the route, where you can stop for relaxation and sunbathing as well as stock up on fresh regional dishes from local hosts.
After the rafting trip, you will return to the guesthouse and roast sausages over the fire.
Day 3
Czarna Hańcza: Frącki – Mikaszówka
After a nutritious breakfast, it’s time for the next stretch of Czarna Hańcza. This time the trip will start in Frącki, where the river has a fairly rapid current and a sandy bottom, inviting you to stop and swim. It meanders among fields and meadows, far from rural buildings. It is impossible to get bored – you have to manoeuvre all the time, paying attention to the bends that appear every few dozen metres. Finally, a 2-kilometre section of the Augustów Canal with two historic, manually operated sluice gates awaits you – Sosnówek and Mikaszówka. The sluice will raise you over 5 metres above the water level of Czarna Hańcza.
After the rafting trip, you will return to the guesthouse and relax in a Russian bath.
Day 4
Rospuda: Małe Raczki – Święte Miejsce
Only by kayak can you enter the famous Rospuda Valley! The river meanders through marshy meadows surrounded by the Augustów Forest. Attractive stretches with sharp bends, fallen trees and large boulders await you here, interspersed with calm stages, where the river becomes gentler and free of obstacles. In summer, Rospuda has a much milder character. Pay attention to the beautiful landscape! On the rafting route, two unusual places worth visiting: the ruins of Pac Palace in Dowspuda and the Święte Miejsce (Eng. Holy Place) – a place of religious worship.
Rest and relaxation in the sauna are planned for the evening.
Day 5
Szeszupa: Udziejek – Rutka Tartak
The time has come to meet the charming Szeszupa, which is often called ‘little Rospuda’. On the kayak route you will pass through the wide valley of the Suwałki Landscape Park and six small lakes (Gulbin, Okrągłe, Krejwelek, Postawelek, Przechodnie and Pobondzie). This river is characterised by a calm current, beautiful views and few tourists. Here you will forget about the hustle and bustle of the city.
Day 6
Marycha: Zelwa – Stanowisko
Today, we will take you to the Polish-Lithuanian border so that you can discover the charms of Marycha. Initially, the river is overgrown with reeds and arrowheads, not burdensome. As the river progresses, you will notice changes: the route begins to bend and meander, and difficult shallows, fallen trees and trunks appear. Such surprises will sometimes force you to carry your kayak. It is a very wild and picturesque part of the landscape.
Be careful not to cross the village of Stanowisko – the final stage of the trip, as the river continues into the territory of Belarus.
This is the last day of the adventure – to say goodbye, we invite you to feast accompanied by live music.
Day 7
End of the adventure
After breakfast, checkout and departure of the participants. It is also possible to extend the stay and organise an additional kayaking trip on the Lithuanian Biała Hańcza river. It is a very charming river flowing almost entirely through the Veisiejai Regional Park (the largest national park in Lithuania).
