Where to go
Lesser Poland
The Lesser Poland voivodeship is located in southern Poland and its capital is Kraków – the city of Polish kings and former capital of Poland. In the south lie mountains such as Tatra, Beskids, and Pieniny. This region offers many tourist attractions, national and landscape parks, nature reserves, and UNESCO World Heritage sites: the historic center of Kraków, the salt mines in Wieliczka and Bochnia, the former Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp, the sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, and wooden churches. Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II, is also located in Lesser Poland.
