Where to go
Silesia
The Silesian voivodeship is located in southern Poland and its capital is Katowice. In the north of the region, from Kraków to Częstochowa, stretches the Trail of the Eagles’ Nests – a land of castles built on hard-to-reach limestone rocks that once guarded the Polish border. Silesia also has the Industrial Monuments Route, including the Guido coal mine, breweries in Tychy and Żywiec, and the Tarnowskie Góry lead, silver, and zinc mine (UNESCO World Heritage Site). There is also Częstochowa, Poland’s spiritual capital with its sanctuary in Jasna Góra.
