Itinerary
The adventure begins with the arrival by coach to Krynica-Zdrój. Our driver will pick you up at the designated meeting point and will take care of a safe and pleasant journey to the hotel.
Day 1
Arrival to Krynica-Zdrój
After arriving by coach to Krynica-Zdrój, there will be time to rest and prepare for the mountain expedition. Trekking is attractive, especially for those who love long hikes and contemplation of mountain panoramas from the peaks, photography enthusiasts and people who want to feel the freedom in contact with nature. On this day we provide dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2
Krynica Zdrój – Jaworzyna Krynicka
In the morning, you will meet a mountain guide at the hotel who will accompany you on the trail in the following days. You will start your tour from the spa park in Krynica-Zdrój, and then your guide will take you on a hiking trip. There are only 7 km of walking ahead of you but 730 m of elevation to overcome. The accommodation is provided in a mountain hut in Jaworzyna Krynicka (1050 m), from where there are wonderful views of the Low Beskids, Beskid Sądecki and the Slovak Tatras.
Day 3
Jaworzyna Krynicka – mountain shelter on Hala Łabowska
For the first few days, the route will lead through Beskid Sądecki. Beautiful landscapes, partially forested slopes, charming wooden churches and a well-developed tourist infrastructure await you here. The region is characterised by a rich ethnic diversity and original folk culture. You will spend the night in a mountain shelter on Hala Łabowska (1061 m), the name of which comes from the nearby Lemko village of Łabowa. Its inhabitants grazed sheep on the alp. The Lemkos are an ethnic minority which was displaced from these areas after World War II. Andy Warhol’s parents were Lemkos, who emigrated to the USA at the beginning of the 20th century.
Day 4
Hala Łabowska – Rytro
On this day, hiking along the mountain trails will lead you to the ruins of the castle in Rytro. This mediaeval building is situated on a high hill on the right bank of the Poprad River. According to local legends, it was destroyed in 1657 during the invasion of the Transylvanian army. The ruins of the castle have survived to this day, being one of the local attractions. One of the legends has it that treasure is hidden in the basement of the castle, which is still waiting to be discovered.
Day 5
Rytro – Bacówka pod Bereśnikiem
The most demanding part of the journey is ahead of you – to cover 17 km of the trail and an elevation of 1,100 m. Your effort will be rewarded by the views from the summits of Przehyba (1175 m) and Czeremcha (1124 m), which can delight even the most demanding eye. The destination point of this section of the route is the Bacówka pod Bereśnikiem (843 m), which was established in 1937 as a result of the expansion of an old highlander cottage.
Day 6
Bacówka pod Bereśnikiem – Schronisko Trzy Korony
It’s time to leave the Beskid Sądecki range and start discovering the Pieniny Mountains. The Pieniny Mountains are a small mountain range made of limestone rocks, situated on the Polish-Slovak border. It is characterised by great diversity in terms of topography. In the vicinity of steep, soaring peaks and deeply cut gorges, there are gentle hills with delicately marked passes. You have 16 km of route to hike today. In the evening, you will rest at the Trzy Korony Mountain Hut (470 m).
Day 7
Schronisko PTTK Trzy Korony – Krościenko nad Dunajcem
Today on your route lies the Pieniński National Park and the spectacular Trzy Korony (982 m), at the top of which there is a viewpoint. On the trail there is a lot of exposure and large relative elevation. You will also climb Sokolica (747 m), considered the most beautiful peak in the Pieniny Mountains. It is built of hard limestones, and its vertical walls fall steeply into the gorge valley of the Dunajec River. It is a great vantage point on the Dunajec River gorge, the Little Pieniny Mountains and the Tatra Mountains. On the way, you will also visit the ruins of the Pieniny Castle.
Day 8
Krościenko nad Dunajcem – Jaworki – Krakow
On the last day of trekking you will leave your luggage on the bus and head towards the Homole Gorge. It is one of the biggest attractions of the Pieniny Mountains, apart from rafting down the Dunajec River. The whole area is covered with mixed forest, and additionally you can see the meadows above the ravine from almost every point along the route. Most of the rocks you pass have names, and in the past they played a big role. They are home to mining shafts, remains of gold prospectors or places under old lime kilns. On the way back to Kraków you will see the dam on Lake Czorsztyn and the castle in Niedzica.
Day 9
Time to say goodbye
You can spend the morning on a walk of your own around Kraków Old Town, entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List, or in the former Jewish district – Kazimierz. After the walk you will start your return journey. The days spent trekking will remain an unforgettable experience.
