Things that reflect our culture
Apples
We have been the largest apple producer in Europe and one of the largest in the world for many years. They are the most commonly grown and most often eaten fruit in Poland.
Dumplings (pierogi)
They are steamed, fried, or baked with various sweet and savory fillings. Whichever option you choose, they aim to please any palate!
Bison
The last fragment of the ancient forest in Europe is located in Poland. We are home to the largest European land mammal – the bison.
Storks
They spend harsh European winters in Africa and return to Poland every fourth summer or the calendar year. We believe that these birds bring good luck to the harvest where they nest.
Vodka
Traditional "pure" or flavored – it tastes best when chilled. We produce over 260 million liters per year.
Amber
We are the largest amber exporters in the world. It is estimated that over 70% of this raw material comes from Poland.
Mushrooms
Poland’s golden autumn is the best time for the mushroom harvest. Thousands of varieties and unlimited access to our nation’s forests will allow for plentiful foraging and beautiful weather to do so.
Language
The Polish language is so unique and complex that even Poles have problems using it correctly. In the alphabet we will find additional letters: “ą”, “ć”, “ę”, “ł”, “ń”, “ó”, “ś”, “ź”, “ż”.
Forests
30% of the entire country is covered by forests, which makes Poland the country with the fourth largest forest area per square kilometer in Europe.
Pope
John Paul II was the first Polish-born pope after 455 years of the Catholic Church electing only popes of Italian descent. Although born as Karol Wojtyla in Wadowice, Pope John Paul II was very spiritually connected with the city of Kraków, and he is memorialized in a number of neighborhoods.
