Wrocław and Lower Silesia – the history of World War II

Itinerary

During your stay in Wrocław, you will be accompanied by a licensed city guide who will tell you about the history, monuments and legends of Lower Silesia.

Day 1
Wrocław – the city of five rivers

You will start your guided tour from Ostrów Tumski. This is the oldest part of Wrocław, surrounded by the waters of the Odra River. Unique monuments of architectural art, including the Gothic St John the Baptist Cathedral and the Holy Cross Church, are located here. Then you will cross Piasek Island to reach the Old Town. Here you will see the baroque Aula Leopoldina and the Mathematical Tower of the Museum of the University of Wrocław, as well as one of the largest market squares in Europe.

Day 2
Secrets of World War II

After breakfast, you will go to Rogoźnica to visit the State Museum Gross-Rosen – a former German Nazi concentration camp, founded in 1940 as a subcamp of KL Sachsenhausen.

Then we will take you to Głuszyca, where the Underground City of Osówka is located. This is one of the largest systems of underground corridors and halls built by the forced labourers and prisoners of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp as part of the Riese project (German term for Giant). It was planned to be one of Adolf Hitler’s headquarters. After sightseeing, you will return to Wrocław.

Day 3
Wrocław – the city of four denominations

In the morning you will visit the Four Denominations District in Wrocław – also known as the Four Temples District – with a guide. You will see the Orthodox church of Nativity of Theotokos, the church of St Anthony of Padua – a Roman Catholic temple, the White Stork Synagogue, and the Evangelical church of Divine Providence. Then you will go to the Old Jewish Cemetery, one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Poland and the resting place of many distinguished people.

As the adventure is over, we will take you to the station or airport.
